I also tend to whale the tar out of my bikes - fall down a lot, bounce off rocks, etc. A real demo ride would take four hours or so...
Definitely...Pedro's is always a fun time!!!MtnBikerChk said:the nice people at Titus emailed me and said they have an XS moto lite on the demo truck headed for Pedro's Fest at the end of July - now.... is it worth the $40 entrance fee to Pedro's to try it? LOL!
how is that different than any other day?McGRP01 said:If you get a Moto-Lite before I do, I will cry like a little girl.

I disagree... Bikes ARE black magic. I'm sure most of us have riddin bikes that, even though on paper they looked good, just didn't feel right. Riding a bike in a parking lot tells you nothing about how it will perform 10 miles into the trail on a super tight and steep switchback that you have to nose pick your way around.binary visions said:Bikes aren't black magic -

That said, I generally buy all my bikes both USED and untested. Mainly because I can't afford a new frame, and where the heck am I going to be able to try a bike out in a real world situation? Personally I don't know if a bike fits, or is right, or if I like it till I have ridden in a few months. The bike and I have to spend time together and see if we're a good match.
And? You bought them with or without testing them?ThePriceSeliger said:Lets see.

$750 for a new Motolite frame sounds like a hell of a price.

Well the Intense I had for about 4 hours , and I blew the front tire , so i took it back them , and the Jekyl, I had for most of the day too.MtnBikerChk said:they gave them to you for the day??
how early did you have to get there for that?
so maybe we'll see ya there!
I Are Baboon said:How many of you have purchased or would purchase a brand new bike (complete or just the frame) before having ever ridden one, be it a demo, a floor model, or a friend's similar bike? Would you buy a bike blindly like that?
I asking about new bikes only, because generally speaking used bikes don't cost as much and you're more likely to get to ride one before buying it.
I'm just curious, that's all.
MBC - there is a shop in Western Mass that carries (or did) carry Titus. Can't remember the name of the shop but I think it it in Lenox, MA - could be worth a call.MtnBikerChk said:the nice people at Titus emailed me and said they have an XS moto lite on the demo truck headed for Pedro's Fest at the end of July - now.... is it worth the $40 entrance fee to Pedro's to try it? Also, Wheelworks in Boston carries Titus - you could do a road trip for a test ride and then swing over and ride Nam or something.
