riding last weekend and fell off a bridge. When i got up out of the ditch and checked out my bike the preload knobs and the
c clips that holds the fork together were missing and the fork's stantions wanted to seperate from the lowers. like blowing out q21 rock shox preload knobs
I dont know how i landed but the fork has no structural damage.
I got some c clips from the hardware store. They're not U shaped like the factory ones but they fit Under the notch and hold the fork together. everythign works rebound preload.
Is this thing safe to ride tommorow?

No, im not topping out. If anything the fork seems to have a little neg travel. but i have noticed that before when removing the stantion caps ( releasing air pressure and the nasty oil stink) then screwing them back down during a oil change.

What does a U shaped C clip look like, or conversely what does a non U shaped C clip look like? I'd say you're fine as long as the clips don't want to come off too easily.

Am I weird for thinking maybe there should be just a bit more than those two C clips holding my DH fork together? I have confidence in Marzocchi, but for me at least, it's a bit scary.

I've never doubted Marzocchi's ability to build bicycle forks. I've lost the C-clips before, and had to call Marzocchi for replacements ( .50 cent replacement, $4 shipping). But it's a good point that your fork cannot function without them. Wierd, eh?

They only stop the fork from coming apart on the rebound side of things, so there isn't any extraordanary stresses on the clip.
