Part II:
More cave exploration..
Always a good time to stop for ice cream..
Resting up after an 'off' day to go whitewater rafting at Harper's Ferry, WV.
Point of Rocks where the historic gun battle occured between the railroaders and the canal company
Me after successfully digesting my 12th Clif bar of the trip..
Dalton riding by the Monacy Aquaduct (the canal actually runs over other bodies of water in several places)
White's Ferry, the last and only cable operating ferry on the Potomac River. This is just downstream from where Lee made the push into Maryland during the Civil War
Nappy time...
Me and the kid at Great Falls, MD, about 20 miles from DC.
WE MADE IT!! Mile post 0 in Washington, DC. 187 miles, including mandatory detour around hurricane damaged portion of canal path
Extra pics from the excursion on into DC:
Finally, packing out to come home!
All in all it was a great trip. 7 days on a bike with my kid, no cable news, no campaigns, no work stress, no email, just kids, a path and bikes and history.
What could be better? Try the trip yourself! Great website for info:
