Ok i have some Hayes MX4 calipers on 6inch disc brakes, when checking the bike, checking bolts etc, over, me being the dumbass i am didn't realise that the bolt on the back of the caliper was, im assuming to move the pads and i acidently adjusted it slightly. Now ive adjusted it back slightly to where i think it was and it pretty much matched with the front one but i was just wonering does that little bolt just simply adjust the pads and is there a specific setting for it.? ill add a picture to show you the bolt i mean. the bolt isnt done up completly as it wasnt when i got it and neither is the front one.

Also when i ride my bike i sometimes get this annoying rattle sound coming from what seems to be the front of the bike? ANy ideas what this is, it only seems to happen when i ride with a bit of speed. Any ideas. Ive checked the brake disc and it seems to be tight and not loose at all.?

Thanks in advance, hope it mede sense.

sorry the picture is a link for some reason its not showing up.

ok thankyou wumpus i think the calipers are all sorted now.

I know i must sound really annoying, oh my bike is making a noise lol but it starts to get really frustrating after a while. i can't seem to work out what it is, is sounds as if maybe one of the springs is loose, or is this not possible?? it happen when i ride fairly quickly or if i lift up the front of the bike and drop it back down, its a kind of rattle? any help, i don't have a manial with the bike but have found one online so i shall have a browse but if anyone could help it would be great, i dont want to take it riding then fall off and injure myself because theres a problem or something.
anyway thanks for the help in advance.

Nothing you can do about it. The little clips that hold the pads onto the caliper get a little play on them and the pads will contact the rotor just a little bit.

The good news is it's not dangerous and you can just ignore it :)

Ok thankyou very much binary visions. Im glad it is nothing to be worried about, as i was getting kind of worried that my brakes would sieze and i would get thrown over the bars or similar.

Thanks again.
Ash.
