What's a recommended safety measure to prevent me from stroking the pistons without a disc installed. I gotta run my rear Hayes HFX9 HD w/o a disc to accomodate a Burley kid trailer, but I don't want to f_ up my brakes...

Hayes includes a 'shipping block' which is basically a plastic card about .1" thick in their brake kits. Your lbs may have some laying about. They are avaiable separately from Hayes as well. They're also handy for resetting your caliper after installing new pads.

Yep, the Burleys in our group all have that skewer attachment to get around disc brakes. Works great.

My Yakima trailer doesn't have that option, so I had to stick with the vee braked bike to pull it.

Speaking from a fair amount of trailer experience, mostly off-road, I'd never ride with only one brake on the tow-rig. The weight of trailer and kid(s) have a big effect on your braking distance, even with both in working order. GET the Skewer Mount, leave the rotor on the bike. :)

Doh! Why didn't that occur to me? Why didn't I check out Burley's site? 'Cause I'm addicted to riding and it's been clear outside!
Thanks for the link!
