Calling all 03 Turner DHR owners......

I just sold a fox rc shock to someone I don't know whos has the same bike that I had...03 DHR. This shock worked fine on that frame. Acadian, DBR, Mobius and dw can vouch for this as they've seen the bike when I was at whistler.

Anyway, the guy says this shock won't fit on his bike. He's claiming that the lower spring collar (by the rebound knob) hits his linkages. We both had the same setup with an 03 front triangle with updated/thicker linkages.

Have any of you guys experienced anything like this with this frame? I'm completely at a loss because it worked flawlessly on my bike. I'd still be riding it if I hadn't cracked the 03.

Thanks.

Actually, I noticed the same thing with my Pushed RC. The collar is sitting right on the linkage. It's like the RC is 1/16th" shorter from the mounting hole to the collar than the stock Romic.

I didn't notice this till after a full days riding, and after I loaded my rig in the truck. The shock/bike still performed perfectly, so I don't know if going to be a problem down the line. But I have an extra collar just in case.

I'm going to pull mine off to see if there's any damage going on. Worse case scenario, I'll grind the ears of the linkage just a tiny bit as a relief, but I really don't think it's a big deal.

Is your buyer not even able to mount it?

He said he can't get it on. I'm not quite sure if that means he can't get it mounted at all or just that he can't get it mounted without contact. I guess it's good to know that he's not just doing something wrong but it worked fine on my bike. I even went back to look at my linkages and there's no sign of contact.

As a side note, if I were you, I'd mess with the collar before I'd go grinding on the linkages. Maybe some washers/spacers to bring the collar foward?

Yeah, I was just thinking about a washer, but it would be impossible to get one on without cutting a slot into it.

Grinding sounded bad, maybe I should've said, chamfer the inner corner of the linkage. The corner just needs a bigger break in it.

I just checked my sons 03. He has the Fox pro pedal RC. It's the same model you had listed for sale.
It does contact the "dogbone" linkage when suspension is uncompressed. However it moves away as the suspension compresses. Doesn't look like it would be any problem. We been running it all summer without a hitch.
Tell your buyer to attach the shock to the linkage first and then attach the front mounting bolt. Should go together more easily then is he attaches front bolt first.
If you want a pic to prove to your buyer that it's possible just let me know.

That would be great. I never took any photos of my bike with the fox on it. I'll send you my email address in your PM box.

thanks

Did you sell the shock to a guy named Bart in Pacific, WA?
My friend Bart called me yesterday to see if I was interested in the shock for my DHi because he bought it from some guy and it wouldn't fit his frame (DHR). I told him I had read about some people having trouble with thiers on RM and would look to see what there solution was. I mentioned about mounting the linkage end first...

Yep. That's him allright. I've sent him 3 emails now telling him I'll return his money if he doesn't want the shock. I also sent him some pictures that Ridurbin sent me where he was having the same problem. He should know that I'm not trying to rip him off.

Anyway, point him to this website so he'll believe me when I tell him it shouldn't affect his ride.....or just send the thing back. I'll never leave someone stuck with something from me that they don't want.

Well, except for a little herpes or course. ;)
We have only ran Romics on our 03 and 04's, with of course the necessary
backups.
I know there is gonna be options for 05, but I am not sure what yet.

Barts a really good guy, but he is a little anal. If its not just right or just perfect he gets kind of high strung.

Of course, at the dual slalom national finals at Deer Valley in '97 I watched him adjust his tire pressure in 1/2 psi increments after every run on his way to beating Pistol Pete, Shaun Palmer then Brian Lopes to win it all??? So I guess being that anal comes in handy sometime......

I'll give him a call after work and steer him towards this thread. He is really a great guy, just REAL anal!

If it was hitting my linkage, I'd be upset too. It just didn't do when I had it on my bike. I don't even really consider that anal. More like totally reasonable. Anyway, I'll take it back if he doesn't want to deal with it. He doesn't need to feel like he's stuck with it and needs to sell it to someone else.

This is trailhacker, not snacks...
The first one on the left is Ethan, not Evan, but I think I'm going to call him that from now on!
Bart is amazingly fast!!! If he actually went to a national these days I think he'd be good for around top 20 time in pro.... not bad for a guy around 40? At the local races if he shows up, its pretty much a question of who's getting 2nd.
And MMike is on here, you've probably flamed him before......

my bad...don't ask me why I wore Evan instead in Ethan! oops!!

Kidwoo: as I rememember - it's easier to get a hold of Bart via Phone than e-mail.
