I don't have time to to pull the old 20k pound hitch off and upgrade to the 30K pound receiver before Ruth leaves for a horse show but I did get the 42" extension built an I found 2 snapped mounting bolts on the receiver. snapped bolts are why we are upgrading. they changed from 3/8 grade 8 to 1/2 grade 8s and added some reinforcement gussets.

yeah but my lower back is killing me no way I could get the new receiver hitch into position. New truss is 80 pounds without the ball assembly. and even then I built it bar by bar in the receiver so the max I was lifting was 45 pounds. The show this week is 90 miles away and all freeway. With the new bolts we should be good ( there are 14 of them)

Pretty cool conversion:
I like in the description “van started life as an air force maintenance vehicle with 13,000 miles. So I’m technically the first owner”.

Kind of want, for sale locally for $85k. I want either a new tow vehicle and a slightly larger trailer or a class C, this is both. Just enough "offorad" ability to be fine for what I'd use it for. Should clean my trailer up and at least list it so I have parking.

Cool. Given the chassis cab and the wheelbase, F-550 under all that?

Yeah, crew cab chassis cab.

The idea of 4 normal doors and a normal seat for installing the dogs and kid in there is a big selling feature.

I could technically fit both this and my trailer on my sideyard, and after she murdered me and cashed out my life insurance my wife would have no problem paying for the second camper.

$120k, not bad I guess. Some folks still have money to spend, I guess.

Had to click the link to check out the mountain graphics, and good god. $120k, interior looks like it's held together with hopes and dreams, and they washed it with a brillo pad prior to listing?

That's an awful lot of money to travel and live uncomfortably.

Grabbed Frita, crawled under to unbolt the fuel tank, noticed it was starting to leak again. Guess my timing isn't too bad. The new tank looks coated vs the original being raw steel. No wonder it rusted out. Gotta order the new sender, couple new hoses and all new hose clamps. Should be all good tomorrow if I can find the sender.
