Can a Marzocchi Lover Switch to a Boxxer?

I'm still in a quandary over which fork I should put on my new 2Step. I have the Psylo SL on there right now... it's gotta go. There's no question about that.

I have a Z150 on order and may be here by the end of the month. But, I had a friend of mine who says that the Z150 would rake out the front end too far and wack out the steering. The axle to crown height of the Z150 is 538mm.

So, I started thinking that since I have a DC compatible 2Step (luckily) that I would consider a low axle to crown DC fork to put on there. I hate the feel of the Shermans so that's out of the question. I thought a Boxxer Race would be a good option and at 524mm (6"), it wouldn't change the head angle much more than a regular Z1 (518mm), which is what Scott at Go-Ride.com uses on his and he loves it.

My only concern is that I am a die hard Marzocchi fan. In fact, every other fork I've tried I've ended up absolutely hating: Psylo, Sherman Breakout, Manitou X Vert... I just like the suppleness of the Zokes.

That said, how does the Boxxer Race compare to a Super T or Junior T? Will I hate it or will I be satisfied with similar performance and a non-raked out front end?

First, let me ask you a question, if you dont like the way the Psylo rides, how much indifference is there between the Psylo and the Boxxer? Or, will the Boxxer ride like the Psylo that you hate now? (being that they are both Rock Shox's)

I think you should get the Zoke's, or just wait for the 6"er.

I'm gonna wait for the Z150 and see how it rides. I'm sure it will be just fine.

I just got a lighter weight spring for my 2Step and that made a huge difference in the ride... much more squishy! Just the way I like it. I'll let everyone know how the Z150 is soon...:D

Jason-

I had the same exact concerns as you do about the Z150. The axle-crown is long and the fork might not be as stiff you as you like.

In the end, I picked up a 6" '01 Super T for my RFX and couldn't be happier. The head angle is a little over 69 and it is quick enough for tight trails but is also has good stability at higher speeds.

Also, got it in great condition for $300 less than retail for the Z150. In my mind, it was the perfect fit. (although it took my about 3 months to reach this conclusion:eek: )

Good luck with the Z150. If it is REALLY awesome and the stiffness is there, I will probably get one.....so on other hand make sure you get the Z150 and write me a detailed review of how it compares to your old '02 Super T.....

I think the two main advantages over the 6" Super T are the ETA for climbing and unlimited turning raduis.

Good luck and make sure you post some pictures of your rig.

Also make sure you weigh the fork on a digital scale and post the weight.

My '01 Super T w/o QR20 axle was 6.4lbs--6.7lbs on the nose with the axle and a 8.5" steerer.

Again, good luck. I really am looking forward to hearing about this fork.

Thanks, Kev!

I'm set on the Z150 and it should be here soon. I'll tell ya, I didn't think I would love the 2Step as much as I do... that thing rules!

With the Z150, it should be a great balance between XC and DH... It is hella lighter than my RFX was too, which surprises me.
