can someone explain the 1.5 heatube?

i could be way off, and way out of context but anyways...i always thought the reasoning behind the 1.5 steerer is so fork manufactures are able to make them larger, which means more travel for a sc fork, like the sherman. so now you can run 6" in a sc without as much flex. but i could be way off er something

Read the rest of the thread... Both sides of the 1.5 steerer have been hashed out.
