Can we all agree on this one?

Watch the video there.

So, anyone want to defend that officer's actions? MikeD, maybe the video doesn't tell the whole story? Manimal, maybe you can tell us about the constant stress the guy is under?

At least he didn't taser her. That was nice of him. Give the man a medal.

And, since police only adhere to the highest professional standards, I'm sure the other two officers immediately filed a report about the incident documenting the assault. Right?

I just can't help but feel that the PAWN forum is turning into the Fthepopo forum.

I enjoy having people with different viewpoints on here otherwise what's the point? But if we keep harping on this subject I think that all of our law enforcement friends will get the wrong idea and leave us to be liberal hippies on our own.

I just want to see if there is any common basis to work from.

I'm not trolling either, I'm genuinely curious to find out if everyone can agree on this or not.

Whether I'm convinced, in light of all evidence available to me, the cop is an asshole and did something wrong? Yeah, although that's after there's been ample time for any other exculpatory details to come to the fore.

Whether the video tells the whole story in and of itself? Never. The disparity between a single witness viewpoint (or the views of 10 cameras simultaneously recording from a distance) and the perceptions of a participant in a given incident is far too great. Other viewpoints and evidence may corroborate a video, or may refute what it purports to show, but they need to be considered.

And now that I have bandwidth being back in the land of the big PX, I can watch the vids. That vid shows the cop pushing her. Could have been justified. Doubt it was, but if she'd said, "I'm going to kill you, pig" as she brushed past, he's justified in taking her to the ground like that, whether crippled, able, male, female, young, old. Subsequent reaction doesn't make me think that's what happened, as there'd probably be an immediate handcuffing, etc. But you can't know it from the video entirely.

I'm not defending cops; I'm just for looking at a situation in its totality, whatever side of the fence you're on.

So, take the guy out of his uniform. Pretend he's a fratboy walking down the street with a couple of his buddies.

You still feel the same way? Honestly?

I'd sure be skeptical--as I am with this cop--but I'd have to ask that question of him and/or at least the witnesses before coming to an opinion.

The camera doesn't show, for example (theoretically) that this same homeless woman clawed him in the face or spit on him last week when he walked through the same spot. Or threw feces in his face. Maybe he told her to stay away, with good reason, and she didn't, and his action was appropriate given circumstances unknown to us.

Silver: I think we have your answer. No, we will never agree on issues concerning popo nonos.

MikeD: Are you this skeptical of everything? What proof would be sufficient to convince you?

I'm trying to figure out whether the phrase "popo nono" reminds me more of "yoko ono" or "ono pupu"
