Had a bad crash and unfortunately scratched one of the stanctions on my stratos s8, fortunately it wasnt to bad.
The scratch is about an inch or less in length and isnt to deep.
I was thinking maybe i could buff it out some how, or maybe im just crazy
Wanted to know if anyone has or had any experience in taking care of such a problem

Is it leaking oil past the scratch?

if not, they just rub over it with some fine grit sandpaper, like 1000 or 1200 grit, or a brown paper sack and let it go.

Use the sandpaper cure like Taz said - 1000 grit and don't overdo it! I had a fairly small but deep scratch on my old MX-6 and it worked out fine.

I was told that epoxy or plumbers cement works very well for deep scratches. You use a tiny bit over the scratch and extremely fine grit sandpaper to sand off the excess. This is only for really deep scratches that leak oil though.

I fixed my JrT with a bit of JB Weld and a nail buffer. apply JB Qwik Weld and leave it for a couple of hrs to cure, then use the nail buffer (they often come with 4 grits, fine to stupid fine), use a little spit and buff the weld material down.

IF you get the scratch out and don't already have some fork guards Stratos makes them now and so does go-ride.
