I taco'd a wheel last summer, finally got around to order a new rim. Can I reuse the nipples? I'm going to replace all the spokes, but do I need to replace the nipples? They are so cheap I might do it just to be safe.

if you use them too much they get hard, but they're still very twist-able.

Seriously, just get new ones, for how cheap they are, it's cheap insurance against the royal pain-in-the-ass that rounding one off will be.

never, never, never!!!!! if you are going through the time and pain of rebuilding a wheel use new nipples. Thoughts like that just make us pro wheel builders nards cringe...... Dont use used spokes either!!! they are not pre stressed, they are worn out.

Dude! I bet you, like, wash yer bum wad and reuse it. Seriously. You use new nipples for the same reason you use new spokes. Old ones are stressed from age and might fail or strip out either thread wise or under the spoke wrench.

i believe Jobst Brandt has no issues with reusing spokes as long as the wheel was not damaged, and they are the correct length.
