Have one on my Banshee Scythe that I have been running with a Marzocchi 888 Evo Ti since June 2011.
About the sound, it was making a pop on hard drops at Whistler, started around the 5th run one day, checked and everything was tight, so just rode through because it didn't seem to be breaking anywhere.
Got home, took the assembly apart, cleaned everything, greased it and put it back together. At the time I had been running 4 1/2 inch spacers on the fork. Replaced the 4 spacers with one 2 inch piece, made sure that everything was tight but not over-torqued, and no sounds since (about 3 months of moderate to aggressive shore riding).
On the up side it has dropped the BB height, and slacked the bike out by 1.5 deg, and it made a freeride bike more versatile.
