I know you cant see the shock, but here are a few pics of the new double barrel cane creek shock getting properly worked on this 40+ ft gap. This shock makes all other shocks look silly, it is the smoothest shock I have ever seen yet it soaks up huge hits like this like they are bumps in the road.

whoa! not even an Avalanche can do that kind of stuff! ;)

seriously though, it's awesome that it'll be coming to market. another shock option is a good thing. unfortunetly, last i heard price was gonna be around $800. has that changed yet?

Is this an air shock or something? Haven't heard of it before.

Ed: Searching for "Cane Creek Double Barrel" and "Cane Creek" alone have yielded only this thread, with anything shock related anyhow. Anything else I should be searching for...?

Sorry, just haven't read them. But hey, at least I can spell. I'll do a search.

MD

Ed: Search didn't find anything. Anyone have a link?

Ed II: Nevermind, found it...thanks. Just one thread from November.

I looks like it could be a really nice shock...i'll be more impressed when i see it hit G-outs and stutter bumps on a course...than taking one big smack......

I just checked it out on Saturday right before we went on a ride. Chris didn't have his cranks on yet, but it was just like he described it. In the parking lot you can push down on it really light with one hand and it actuates SO EASY. Then you sit on it and the thing feels even weirder. Herndon said that a parking lot test doesn't make any sense because he said the shock's damping kicks in "automaticly" when you're riding.

So anyway, I push down real light with one hand...the shock moves instantly. I pick up the rear end of the bike and drop in on the pavement...the shock doesn't move. WILD!!
Whatever technology is inside of the shock has Chris thoroughly impressed and he's not the kind of guy to "hype" anything.

Hey Ryan, email me those pictures to butchgreene1@bellsouth.net and I'll post them full size!!!!
I didn't know you were up there Saturday you fokker. By the way, got a spare hardtail for me to ride at this "skatepark"....

Visually, I will say it looks the cleanest and burliest of any shock I've seen to date.

Well Seeing How Everyone Has Been Talking About It And Very Few Have Ridden It I Figure I Would Finally Post Something About It. Ohlins Is Behind The Technology That Is In The Shock, Cane Creek Told Them What They Wanted And They Developed It. They Have Been Working On It For A Long Time And Wanted It Right The First Time. We Went To Santa Barbara For The Final Testing In December. I Have A Lot Of Time On Tunnels Trail But Never Any Time Like I Had On This Shock. It Is An Amazing Shock. I Have Always Been Known For Running My Shocks Really Fast On The Rebound Side, I Just Hate When It Gets Behind. This Shock I Am Running Very Slow To The Touch, But It Has Never Gotten Behind. It Is Always Ready For The Next Hit. It Is Set Up To Race And I Don't Change A Thing To Do Big Gaps Or Drops. Oh And About 50/50 The Gap, Not That I Am Proud Of It But The First Day I Hit It I Came Up Pretty Short, Short Enough To Get A Black Eye Through Goggles. We Have The Video And The Rear Wheel Never Comes Unglued From The Ground. The Fork Slaps And Bounces, My Wrist And Ankle Still Hurt And That Was Over A Month Ago. I Know Nothing About Shock Valving Or Anything That Is Going On Inside This Shock. When We Did The Testing All I Could Tell Them Is What The Bike Was Doing And What I Wanted It To Do, They Did The Rest. It Works Everywhere And For Everything, But Most Importantly It Works Better Than Anything I Have Ever Used. And For The Price? I See The Guys At Cane Creek Every Week And I Still Don't Know The Price. Is It Going To Be Worth It? The Quality Is Definitely There And I Feel It Functions Better Than Anything On The Market, If You Want The Best Than Yes I Feel That It Is Definitely Worth It. Hope It Helps. See You At The Races

Its interesting how the market has developed for quality DH shocks with so many offerings - should be a good thing for us with better shocks and hopefully more bang for the buck.

Actually, if you type your entire post in capital letters, RM will automatically convert it to a capital letter on every word.

Do you realize that Chris Herndon is fast as hell, so If he wants to type in all caps he can? Some priviledges come with being fast on the bike...

Ha ha,

Herndon's an internet forum newb.

BTW, Herndon is the one in picture 1 and 3.
don't let the big fat post count of "1" fool you...he's a lurker. I try to geek him on some subject and go off on a tangent about this and that and he's always like "Yeah...I read it on Ridemonkey."

Hahahaha... That's dumb. Being good at anything shouldn't be used as an excuse elsewhere in life.

Zedro didn't bash him, he just informed him that his post was hard to read. It's the RM filter that caused the bizarre capitalization scheme, but sheesh... He's a good rider so nobody should mention that his post caused severe eyestrain to the reader?

Herndon, thanks for the shock info - it's always good to hear writeups from riders. The post was pretty difficult to muddle through, though ;)

yes that was my first post ever and this might be my last. I was just trying to give you guys some accurate imformation about the shock and it's performance. Sorry for the pain caused by reading something that was in all caps and accurate. It was only my opinion, I don't know how you determine wether something is the "best" or not. It is like saying apples taste better than oranges, strictly opinion. I know there will be plenty of remarks to that. Anyways I have had a lot of experience on numerous shocks in a lot of conditions (never an avalanche, except in a parking lot) and I was giving my opinion. I will be running Cane Creek shocks this year and I feel it will be an advantage. Thanks to all of you who give me props on my riding, I appreciate it. I hope everyone takes these two post for what they are worth, my opinion on the performance of the shock, I know some people care about that and not the format it came in. As for the post about excuses elsewhere in life, I don't even know what to say so I will leave it at what I have already said.

Please don't think that statement was directed at you, it was specifically directed at SuspectDevice, who indicated that simply because you were a good rider, you should not have been told that your post was hard to read. I in no way meant to imply that you were making excuses for anything.

The information is appreciated, but the fact is, the RM caps filters made it very difficult to read; that doesn't detract from the good information contained in your writeup, but what you typed (as all caps) and what came out on the screen were two very different things - don't take that being pointed out as a personal insult...

oooo, arent we the sensitive ones, so sorry to offend. Maybe i shouldn't of said anything so he's still posting in ALL CAPS format by his 100th post, where no one will be able to read a thing he says.

Now excuse me while I write-up some job applications using Crayola markers....
