What bike suits me better? I want a huckable bike that will also be fast for dh. I have a Scream now and it's pretty good for freeriding but not so great for dh.

The bike will be for 15-20ft drops and beyond, abusive urban riding (stair gaps, hacked drops, roof drops, etc), and dh (not competitive racing).

I'd run either an 02 factory works monster or shiver or avy dhf.

To people who have ridden both: what do you like the feel of better?

P.S. The demo9 also interests me but i dont really like the shock. The Turner Highline sounds cool but i dont know much about it.

mhm can't say anything about the Brooklyn, but the Fatty Fat should fit your bill.
its a tad heavy though.
mine weighs in at about 49.5 lbs

it would surely help if you posted some more about your stats, and your current ride :)

Wow. I really would have expected more from the Ridemonkey membership than this... All i get is a bunch of grommits trying to be cool... Sad really...

(I weigh 175lbs, thanks.)

All I asked was for people who have ridden both to compare the bikes. What's wrong with that?!

UiUiUiUi: Thanks for your reply. My current bike weighs about 50lbs. Like I said it's a Banshee Scream with an Avy shock. I have a Shiver DC right now and Diabolus cranks. I'm getting rid of the shiver because I've had too much trouble with it and I'm going to try an 02 factory works monster my friend is selling.

The frame is going in for warranty, then I'm going to sell it.

I like the way the scream rides for freeride purposes, but for dh it doesn't ride nearly as well as other bikes I've ridden.

I might venture so far to say as that very very few people in the world even, and certainly on this board, have ridden both a Canfield FF and a Brooklyn for any length of time.

:stupid: however i dont think you could go wrong with either bike. Both are long travel, heavy, super strong frames that both have pedal assist devices. Both could stand up to abusive urban riding, however i would prefer the Brooklyn if you do any urban riding, because the FF can be rather hard to manual and pull up on demand when needed urban riding, this is easy to do on the brooklyn. Both frames would do well at DH and general FR, but if you do alot o urban the brooklyn has a bit of an edge

To me, both bikes are going to be good. Which ever you get you wont be disappointed. Id have thought it would come down to personal preference. Ive got a thing for brooklyns, i think they are the coolest company in the industry, so wouldnt even think about the canfield if i had that choice. Either way you wont be disappointed.

The avalance team members on the East Coast rip it on their Race Links. I have always though that was a really damn cool bike. Its unique, and Doc from Brooklyn is an awesome dude. Ive blasted some runs on the bikes and they rip through everything. I havent really spent any DH time on the Canfield so I cant comment on that. I do think the Canfield brothers are good guys though.

Later!

i've owned a racelink for almost a year now. and i have ridden a fatty fat. i've mostly used mine for freeriding and such. weighs in wih FR wheelset 45.6lbs, when i tried to lighten it up, just under 42lbs.
for the drops you're talking about i'd more rather go with the fatty fat, though i think the racelink could take it. but thats why its called a Racelink, and theres a Biglink.
the fatty is a bigger feeling bike. and i the racelink feels like it can be thrown around more. but i still have done some decent drops on it. love those stair gaps.
either way, get a avy rear shock and tell craig what you plan on using it for, and all will work then anyway.
cheers!

The big link, looks basically the same as the tmx, and is that kind of size, but has the extra link for the shock the same as the race-link. It also has a 3.5" stroke shock. Dont think they make em anymore due to avy not doing the 3.5 stroke shocks.

Which one of the two is more expensive?

as a side note, what exactly about the Scream is "not so good" for non-competitive DH?

as a 2nd side note, if you're narrowing your search to bikes over $3-4k for frame only, WTF difference does it make what the stock shock is [demo9]? Selling it and buying an avalanche will cost you what, $100 in the end?

Hmm, well perhaps that was misleading. I like to race, it's just not my primary concern. I've ridden DHRs, Demo9s and M1s for a few downhill runs and they are a lot more enjoyable to ride dh. The 26" wheel is one factor, as is the linkage design.

Well, I have yet to see a Demo9 with an avy shock and the impression I have from reading threads on these forums is that the Demo9 practically requires a Swinger or 5th due to its linkage design. (this may be wrong im really not sure)

So the canfield doesn't hop or lift easily? That's shame. Can anyone else comment on that?
doing a bunny hop is not that difficult, but really manualing or doing a wheelie on a Fatty Fat is fairly difficult.

personally i can manual my Fatty fat, but doing a wheelie is impossible for me, one of my friends is able to wheelie it. but thats it :)

mhm another suggestion because i think the canfields aren't really producing the Fatty Fat anymore maybe give them a call and ask them to build you a signature with shorter chainstays and so on.
that way you can have your bike any way you want.

the FF has some geometry quirks which take some time to get used to.
still i LOVE my fatty fat its an awesome plow through everything DH bike which handled everything i threw at it with ease!
