basically "my" 72 volvo (yes, its a volvo.)'s engine skips under 1000 rpms wen its up to normal running temp. i just took it in last week and they couldnt find anything wrong w/ it (of course i ran outta gas on the way home). dirty spark plug? gas lines? help? maybe if it helps, i put into high rpms a lot, and its an automatic. anything else u need to know? i have a pretty basic tool set at home, (any size socket in the world, pliers, all sorts of sh!t), but dont wanna fcuk around under the hood, risking damage. ANY help would be appreciated. thanks lots.

I would start by replacing the fuel filter... it could be clogged and not flowing enough fuel at idle. Then check the fuel pump...... Is it carborated, or Fuel Injected? Im noit to familar w/ volvos, but im way to familar with quirky old cars. Is there a Volvo specialist you can take it to? Im sure you can also find some Volvo message boards/fourms somewhere online. Just give them all the information... Car, year, motor, trans, and see if you can throughly describe the problem.

Good luck.

A car of that age will have a cylinder or two getting a little low on compression. At idle speed it will run a little rough. No big deal it's 33 years old.

You should be able to find bottles of cleaner at any auto parts store. You just dump 'em in your gas tank and they take care of the rest.

found STP fuel injector cleaner. i put it in b4 i had to go to a party, and in 2000-3000 rpms (approx) it would seriously miss after about 10 minutes of driving. i dont think its the cleaner. i should hopefully take it on the hiway, if my parents allow it. (they dont let me on highway alone even though ive been driving for over a year.)
