The high school kids are back in school, and the land we love to dig has taken a bit of a beating from a summer of their hanging out.

We are getting some folks out to pick up and tidy the place before the rains hit and our attention is diverted to soft packable dirt.

As you know, the Carlmont (DMC) dirt jumps are on private property, with an absentee owner. Our use of this "empty lot" is contingent on the owner's whim. Let's not let him get upset over garbage if he ever shows up.

We know that whoever is reading this is probably not someone who would leave their bottles and trash all over the place, but the trash is there and we have to look at it. Let's be responsible for the land we use, even if someone else is abusing it. Bring gloves, a wheelbarrow if you have one, maybe a five gallon bucket or a sturdy reusable bag. We will pick up recyclable containers and trash and bag it up and haul it down to the street. The City of Belmont is doing a coast and creek cleanup day, and we can add our trash (which could end up in the culvert at the bottom by the white fence) to their cleanup efforts. They will even come pick it up and haul it away after we get it down to the street.

We did this a couple years ago and the place looked fantastic afterwards. Please join in! Tell your friends and let's make a difference! Meet at the end of Village Drive 9am Saturday Sept 17th. We will carry bags and buckets up, and fill them up and carry them down. We will also set up a wheelbarrow shuttle to come in from the top. If you've got a pickup or a wheelbarrow you can help with the shuttle too. Please spread the word and let anyone you know who comes to Carlmont know about the cleanup day. Even an hour of help will make a difference!
