Hi,

I installed a new SRAM 9-speed cassette on an Abbah hub this weekend and I think I am having some problems with it. When I dropped the cassette on to the hub there didn't really seem to be enough room for the 11-tooth cog at the end and I really had to push down hard to get the lock ring to engage the threads. I managed to tighten it down as far as I thought reasonable. I didn't want to force it. I noticed that the lock ring was just even with or slightly higher than the nut for the axle.

When I installed the chain I noticed that when on the 11 tooth cog there is a slight rubbing on the inside of the frame.

What am I doing wrong? I can take pictures if need be.

Thanks...

D

Okay here is the deal. The cassette is not right. I double checked the alignment of the last cog and it was fine. I pulled the cassette off and looked for a 7 speed spacer on the hub and there was none. Then I took it in to the shop and we dropped a different 9 speed SRAM cassette on and it fit perfectly.

Apparently there is something wrong with the spacing between the cogs. We could not figure out what it was though. Nothing we could do would make it any better.

I'm sending it back.

I know I promised pictures but it is so out of whack that the lock ring is barely engaging the threads on the hub and I am afraid that if I try to put it back together now I may strip the hub. So it ain't worth it. So there - this thread is now officially worthless....
