Is Catamount really opening for lift assist service this year? Their website says so, but when I went for the "demo" day last year, it sucked so hard we were tempted to leave by noon for Jiminy. What's the deal? MMR is supporting them? Wouldn't the effort be of more use at another mountain?

MMR is not supporting them, they have contracted with MMR to hold 3 MTB learn to ride camps this summer and also Jim Devallale to help design and build a skills park. They want to offer mountain biking as another summer activity to compliment their alpine park which will be opening soon.
While it is not a destination for hard core DH'ers at this time there is alot of potential and they already have some nice lift accessed flowy single track from top to bottom of the mountain which I expect will get better as time goes on and the skills park will be an attraction in itself with some fun features including berms, drops, tabletops, a rock garden etc.
