I have a new '11 aluminum Cdale Flash 29er. I picked it up from a guy who got it for warranty from his old prophet. During the course of building it up I've run into some fun with the headset. I want to run a tapered Fox fork (I dont want to hear from the lefty crowd) and to do so I need adapter headsets. What I've come across so far is that the headshok headtubes changed in '10 so the normal adapters from cane creek and the like will not work. Cannondale has 2 options for those who refute the lefty. A 1 1/8" straight headset Cdale part # KP058 or a 1.5" straight headset Cdale part # KP119 . To run a tapered steerer you need to buy both and scrap half.

Has anyone else come across this issue? What solutions did you find? And can anyone suggest how to do this without buying both and still run a tapered fork?

I've been doing a little more research. I think if I could find a straight 1.5 steerer fork my life would be vastly simplified. I can find them in 26 but none yet for 29s. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the heads up on the cdale forum as well. I'll hit that up.

nobody makes straight 1.5 steerers 29'ers. i can only think of one fork of the top of my head that's available straight 1.5, and its a freeride fork.

Called cannondale, as in my first post, they have an adapted 1.5 straight and a 1.125 straight but no taper. I called fox as well. They dont, will not have a straight, 1.5, 29er fork.

Good thoughts but covered those bases. Anything else besides buying both headsets?
