I rarely lock my headshok out but the other night noticed that there was some give when I had it locked out. Definitely not as plush as when active but not as firm as I remembered it. In the owners manual there are all kind of warnings about how bad it is if the lock out stops working. Well it hasn't exactly stopped working, it holds air fine and I've never noticed any leaks. I've had the bike since October but the shock has never been re-worked or in the shop for maintainence.

So, any of you that are familiar with this shock (02 Fatty Ultra DL), please help! :) Will it be harmful to keep riding my bike as is? Is there anything that I could do to fix it? Normal wear? Or will it have to make a trip to the mechanic?

Thanks!

how much of the travel actual works when you hae the lockout on? from my understanding on how the headshocks work is they are completely frickin rigid when locked out. so you may want to have it checked out, if anything the fork may need to be worked on anyways. headshocks typically need their oil changed from time to time just a little quicker then most comapnies but whatever.

I believe all Headshoks have to have their oil changed once in awhile. Take it to your LBS and them take a peek at it. It won't hurt to get it done. It may be worth the trip to your LBS. If I ever I have an issue with my ride I'm on the phone or down at the shop having them wrench away.

Thank you! My "baby" was low on oil---got her filled up and now she's rigid again when locked out.

Indieboy---I had about 10mm of travel (on a 70mm fork) when locked out. And yes, when I use the lockouts I have a completely rigid bike.
