That might be what has kept me from getting one. I just never could put my finger on it. I really have never seen a Cannondale that really impressed me to the point of wanting to own one.

There are some really good points in this thread, Personally he is my favorite rider in the industry, he does everything well, and brings alot of publicity to the sport. I mean cmon, look at the majority of :monkey:s out there we party and partake in other stuff...We def need more cedric's in the industry...maybe he will get signed by E.13

That's CRAZY! I don't know the details of his deal w/ C'dale but still. I too thought DH budgets were high until I researched XC and road...whoa nelly! DH is a bargin by comparison. I for one am a Cedric fan. He's one of the few riders who pops up on a WC podium one weekend, a Red Bull Freeride Compe one another weekend, stars in race & freeride vids...jeez...when did you last see THAT from a top 10 XC world cup guy?? Bottom line is you don't.

mmm...ya...sure he parties hard but so do Peaty, Rennie, et al. It's part of the DH scene...shiz it's part of the whole cycling community. The XC guys aren't slouches in that dept either btw! I'd personally rather have that then the roadies/xc guys who continually are getting busted for doping.

-ska todd
Oh i know, notice i used apparently. Xc guys have cooks, soigneurs, multiple wrenches etc etc. I know just how pricey it can be. Road guys live like rockstars for the most part.

BUT as you well know, when it comes down to dropping the bucks, it is all about perceived value of the higher ups. They see that Cedric can slel bikes, (theyd be blind not to) but even if he sells to every Dher on the planet, the profit available in such a small market is less then running one national ad campaign to sell their crappy F level bikes in shops before christmas. The DH market is just to small to take seriously anymore.

Also Heath...you don't pay attention to much do you? Cedric sold more bike for them, than any straight laced, leg shaving pasta eating straight edged fruitcake ever would. Cedric is the embodiment of all that is the professional DH lifestyle. Period.

i am betting cedric is the second highest payed dher.
not a bargin! c-dale i am sure didn't from 10% of his sallery.
so him loosing his other %90 takes him off a cannondale.

what am i trying to say?

O, even though he does a lot of events he was not affordable.
C-dale needs to get the old grassroots thing going again, like the chace,
bolochi. bring some new fast kids on there bikes.

Good. He was a bad image to maintain. Unhealthy, lazy, porn, unethical, rockstar. :nope: Now they will have some money to employ someone serious that can help re-establish Cannondale. :thumb: He is a fantastic athlete but he's to full of himself to sustain a company like Cannondale. If he doesn't get serious in the next couple of years he'll realize he's washed. Happens all the time. I hope he wisens up, it would be amazing to see what he could do if he went legit.

dude.you have GOT to be kidding.

i'd bet this hershey bar sitting right here that you are either posting this from church,or hurrily posting here before going to church.

oh yea, you're also the only person that probably thinks that about Cedric.

The church connection is off base my man.

There are a lot of people, both end users (customers) and industry folks who find public drunkeness, comments that are sexist and degrading to women distastefull.

The largest growth opportunity for this industry is the womens market. Tough to appeal to that group with a guy like that representing your company.

Thats not what I heard, you might want to talk to some lady's before stating that. Most women that I heard talk about Cedric, talk like he's Da Man!

and isn't everybody drunk in this industry??? Biking and rockclimbing seem to have this connection with lot of beer!?

Yeah, because the women really hate Cedric. Him and the other rock stars have such a hard time with the ladies. If only he sang in the choir, then the girls would be flocking to him.
I do agree with you though, the church comment was off base.
I go to church and I think Cedric rules.

I don't know any women who think its cool to objectify women and to refer to them in sexist or degrading terms.

Yes, most women would probably think he is a good looking guy and I'm man enough to agree, but he's a creep.

Fast and funny (at times), but not a good representative. Sex sells, sexism dosen't.

Either I don't watch enough videos or you guys just have more personal anecdotes from races and such.

What has he done that's so sexist other than stupid video parts in player personna?

The dirty sanchez part of NWD 5 was pretty funny. I think it's even funnier cause most women probably don't know what a dirty sanchez is.
I've met Cedric. He is one of the most personable ambassadors for our sport. The women I was with were all giddy. He took it all in stride and chatted us up.
We took a run with him too. Super fun guy to ride with.

I think my girlfriend is the one who told ME what that was a few years ago.

One of the many reasons I like her so much actually............

I haven't seen that video yet though. Whatever he does, it can't be as stupid as all the little frat boy tricks chase and those guys do to each other in the early don hampton videos.......or as tasteless as actually taking up video time with it.

I still think gracia is an asset to anyone wanting to use him to sell bikes.

Are you serious? I'm living in the 50's?
Seems to me that acceptance of that sort of behavior is evidentiary of an ethic of the past when it was ok to objectify and degrade women. Im pretty sure that sort of thing isn't widely accepted any longer.

I suppose there are two ways of looking at this.
From the perspective of the needs of a company who is looking for someone to represent their brand in a responsible manner.

Or

From the perspective of a frat boy who thinks its cool that Cedric gets drunk, bangs chicks and glorifies sexist behavior and commentary.

Your soo off base its rediculous. Ill be willing to be my wallet you have never met nor had any sort of conversation with Cedric himself. Are you too close minded to see its all just a part? He just plays that part in movies and in the public? The same way Steve Peat plays the alcoholic image. Yes, Ill agree they both get hammered all the time but I really doubt Cedric is the badboy pimp-woman degrader-sexist-shovanstic-pig you and a lot of others losers think he is. Hes just trying to get you panties in a wad which has obviously worked. I feel sorry for you.

Um yeah, I seem to recall everyone saying the same thing about Palmer, he also seemed to have no problem laying waste to people on the course. Why should somone change who they are, when that's part of what you sell as an athlete your personality.

I think Brain Deegan said it best once when he was talking about Travis Pastrana, Travis is cool and he's the role model for the straight A kinda kids in the sport, but somone has gotta be around that the kid sitting in detention can relate too. Takes both kinds to make the world go round.

:stupid:

still waiting on specific examples of his sexism....

last i heard (from him on the lift in Aug. this year) he had a girlfriend that not only rides but handles part of his business. so, if he's been known for being screw-crazy as of late, either they broke up and good for him or what an a-hole for being a cheater, too, eh!

hes been wanting to leave for a while. Scott bikes wants him to ride for them, but he said he wanted a million bucks before he was going to move. this is truth, rep. told me myself.

True, he has wanted to leave...but he did not ask for a million bucks. Your rep has been drinking too much egg nog. He approached GT and his "high" offer was not even in that realm. It was not even six figures.

Not six figures for a primary sponsor for one of the most recognizable winning riders on the circuit? A pro like Cedric can't ask for more than $100K from his main sponsor? I know there are very few riders at his level but I would have guessed his main contract would be around $200K. Shows ya what I know...
