speaking of the frenchie bastid as a showman heres a little story i ll share with yas... 2 months ago ??? or whenever the worlds were in les gets (2004)... so i m there the week before the worlds... a couple of days before the whole circus gets underway i m over in morzine bombing runs down the plenney avalanche course (check sprung 4 - sick air).. anyway, toward the bottom there is this nice left hand hip jump... lunch time rolls around and i decide to pull over in the trees next to the hip... crack open the camel back and pull out a cheese bagette... so i m sitting there eating lunch and watching people hit the jump... anyway i hear these crew HAULING down and chute before the hip an i look up to see peat totally whipped about 5 feet in the air... lands clean and dissapears... 10 feet behind him is cedric, he hits the hip and whilst in the air (5 - 6 feet up) he takes his right hand off the handle bar and hugs, yes HUGS the tree as he flies by it... it was fvckin amazing... his arm was wrapped around the tree, whilst up in the air moving at about 25 miles per hour...
at that point i just cried and went home

I think that the frame might be a Mt Cycles "Rumble" - as for the wheels - didn't they learn better than to build crap like that with Spin's and early Spinergy's? I laugh everytime I see some schmuck riding around on a Trek Y / (insert name of futuristic looking composite frame here) with these on it, with the bike looking like it's seen all of about 100 miles in the last 8 years.

I had a really scary crash on that jump around the time you where out, i failled to hip , bailled and my bike actually hit trees before it hit the ground

Anyway my favourite cedric gracia moment (apart from fighting him in the bar at fortbill) has to be on the same course , at the bottom theres a very thin bridge that you can jump , its got raillings on either side, the gap is very thin, the margin for error is tiny and theres been some nasty accidents there, in fact you can now buy t-shirts in morzine that say "dont jump the bridge" anyway , most people bottle the launch , everytime i do it i crap my self just trying to hold it straight anyway cedric launched it whipped it so good that his rear tyre was probably less than an inch from the right hand raillings and his front tyre less than an inch from the left, pin-point accuracy!

update: apparently cedric broke his collarbone at rampage today. was just talking to a friend of mine that is a photog out there and he did it on a 50ft gap from what i heard. but it looks like it will be a while until the pink taco is ridden again
Aww, that sucks. I guess it was one of the gaps at the bottom of the run? Was it in practice? It is pretty early to know that from the first round which should still be going on.Zman said:
