I've used standard SRAM chains, both 8 speed and 9 speed, with success on my SS. They tend to stretch faster, but I've never broken one. Currently I'm using a SRAM PC-1 chain that is 1/2" x 1/8" which I think is standard for bmx chains. Standard for derailleur-equipped bikes with more than 3 speeds is 1/2" x 3/32"

that's why we drink it here
It's single speed, use whatever chain you want, you don't have to shift. Just make sure you use a new chain if you're using new rings, so you don't prematurely wear the teeth.

Standard bikes BMX can be used on a 1/8" ring, or a 3/32 ring!!

If all you have is a cog and a ring, then whatever chain you want to use. If you have a bashguard, or a guide, you most likely will have to use an 8/9 spd chain. Whatever you use, go SRAM. I've used 8 and 9 spd on my singlespeed and never broke one, and I'm a bigger guy who likes to mash. Only time I've felt the need to pony up to a dedicated SS chain is on my fixed gear since the chain serves a bigger purpose there
