i have 73mm frame shell and saint crankset (68/73 bb) and frame with 150mm hub. when assembled my bike, i noticed, that I can't place the chainline (which for saints are 50.4mm) against the middle of cassette. there is no way to move chainring to the right side with bb spacers because of bb/shell width. certainly I can't even install my mrp guide correct.

now i've found that ~51mm chainline is for 135 spacing, and ~56mm is for 150mm spacing.

so if i'm right, i can't put my saints correctly on my frame.
and i'm now looking for new truvativ crankset with howitzer bb with 56mm chainline.

question: does howitzer bb with 56mm will solve my problem and i will be able to install cranks with chainguide correctly? anyone had problem like this before?

Hi random,
Yes, there are several other frames with a similar issue (Demo, earlier Commencals, etc).

That Truvativ 56mm chainline BB is the best solution, followed by running an 83mm crankset with Raceface's reducer kit.

With the special cranks on there, you won't have any major space issues installing a chainguide.

Cheers,

I have the same 73mm bb and 150mm rear end on my bike and am looking to pick up some lighter cranks. I'm hoping that the Gravity Lights would be able to work on my frame. Am I limited to crank choice with my chainline or do I just need a different type of bb? I want to run a single 34 tooth chain ring with no bash guard or chain guide. My chain guide is built into my frame.
