With our national forests being closed for the foreseeable future because of the fires, it is the pleasure of Stump Grinder Productions to announce that for the second year in a row the Chamberlin Ranch in northern Santa Barbara County will be open on New Years Day for mountain bike riding between the hours of 8 AM to 3 PM. :thumb: Rain within 4 days will cancel the event. :banghead:

The DH course will be open for private shuttles. Keep in mind we will not be grooming or preparing the course at all, however it is in pretty good shape. The XC course will be open as well. Come have fun, conflict free, with only a few cows to navigate around.

The Ted Chamberlin Cattle Ranch has been the site of the Santa Ynez Valley Classic since 2000 (formally Firestone). Stump Grinder Productions plans to launch the Stump Grinder Dirt Club, in June 2008. The SGDC will be a private membership driven club that will have numerous member benefits, including clothing, an email pdf newsletter, and almost every weekend access to the trails on the 856 acres of the Credenzza Meadow Area of Chamberlin Ranch.

Our main goal in early 2008 is to build a Dual Slalom and a new longer DH course, this is a chance for everyone to see the locations of these new additions.

However, we need to cover ourselves from potential problems. All riders will need to sign a USA Cycling waiver and donate $5 to cover insurance, and must have a USA Cycling license (one days will be free, so that means you don't need an annual or to pay anything other that the insurance surcharge). If the nominal insurance fee is agreeable to you, then you’re invited. Remember this is 100% private property and it is a privilege to be able to ride here. :bonk:

The gate will open sharp at 8 AM and we need to be off the property by 3:30. Again, come have fun with us at Chamberlin Ranch, everyone is welcome! :busted:

There might even be a Tri Tip BBQ if I can find a sponsor for it! :brows:

Thanks,

mh

I'll probably be there as long as I'm in town.

Also be sure to post up when you'll be starting work on the new course. I didn't miss a work day on that this year and would love to help out again!
