What's New?

New Skin

There's a new skin for the site. This is really moving back towards the skins that RM used to have - darker, cleaner, fewer rounded edges. This skin also compacts the layout a bit which I really like.

Tweaks to the front page layout

Minor adjustments. Primarily, the news ticker has been given more prominence to clean up all of the tiny little boxes we had floating all over, and there's a Facebook integration module.

New News module

We've implemented a new way of handling news. The news forum will still exist and will still host a lot of our news articles, but the news is now going to be aggregated from multiple forums. This means that we can post exciting/relevant/interesting news articles in the forums themselves - in the Downhill forum, for example - and it'll show up on the front page and in our new news module page.

Check out the news module by clicking on the News button in the navigation bar at the top!

What's Coming?

Layers of content

We're starting this news system as a way to layer content on top of our forums. We have such great content in the forums, that pulling it out and putting it someplace else doesn't make any sense. So, we're going to start implementing ways to filter the forums to call out only the content you're looking for.

News is the first thing. Soon, I plan to implement a system to allow the best technical threads to be tagged so they are searchable and browse-able. No more piles of sticky threads at the top of the forum, or losing great threads to the archives. It'll all be at your fingertips.

Better multimedia

I can't lay out all the specifics right now, but suffice to say we are working on it being easier to store, post and view multimedia content. The Youtube tags are kludgy and require a new custom tag for all types of media. We're going to try to fix that.

All of the miscellaneous items.

Yes, there are a couple issues right now. Animated GIFs won't embed, for one. But these will be cleaned up - just have patience!

Problems?

All of these template changes mean your browser is going to get confused. Its cache says one thing, the server says another. The solution to all of your woes is going to be either:

- Clear your browser cache completely. Refer to this site for instructions:
http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser's-Cache

- Force refresh. You do this by holding down the Control key and pressing F5 at the same time. That will refresh the page completely. Whenever you see weirdness, try that first.

And, as always, if your problem still persists, post up in the Support forum and someone will help out!
