how cheap could i get an old fixed gear for? ive allways wanted one and i think im finally ready to ride on the street

You could get a Surly Fixxer to convert a cassette hub to a fixed gear for $50 - $60.
Cheapest way I could see is picking up an old steel road bike at a garage sale or online somewhere. Replace the gears with a fixed hub(surly has a nice one) or use the Surly Fixer. Just make sure you have horizontal dropouts or you won't be liking the experience very much.

fuji makes a steel one for around 400? i think. its got sweet geometry from what ive heard, but the front fork is not drilled for a brake
Think the Fuji is more a track bike than a "street" fixie. It would work, but you'd never find me with only one method of stopping.
