Would you rather:

A- Run a Shimano rear hub (Deore disc or old XT disc), knowing it's not of highest quality and questional durablity, but also knowing you can walk into most every shop and find replacement parts in stock?

or

B- Run a rear hub of similar price a.k.a. cheap (SunRace, DiaTech, Woodman, ?other?) and hope that the durability/quality/engagement is better, while knowing that if the hub goes belly up you have to order parts?

I have 2 XT's and both have been very durable. The XT on my DH bike has a solid axle in it. It was suppossed to be temporary, but it works very well and I have been too poor to afford a Hadleyor something.

Analogy - Bic lighter or super cheapo see through disposable lighter? The Bic usually lasts a little bit longer.

Considering the luck I've had with shimano freehubs, I won't ever run one again. For cheap hubs, I have a dimension from QBP and a woodman. Both are going strong.
