Since one of my investment houses got broken into, Ive been thinking on how to protect my various properties (including my own). None of these properties have phone lines, so an ADT type service is not possible and is way overkill.

I installed 500 watt motion sensor spotlights near the entrances and found these little beauties on eBay:

(search eBay under "Motion Alarm Keypad")

Stick 'em up on a wall and activate it as you walk out... Deactivate w/in 10 seconds with a 4 digit passcode or it screams bloddy murder at 130 dB. Granted they could rip it off the wall and stomp on it like a savage, but for 20 bones, a great solution.

... you could also recess it into the wall so they couldnt get their little grubby paws on it...

is this for inside the house or outside? What prevents a deer or a visitor from triping the alarm?
