What do you guys think of the Chechnya situation?
I remember as a kid in Jr. High watching this report on "Channel 1" which is a news show geared toward kids. The report made it seem as if the chechens were just a peaceful people and that the evil russians were just "coming down on them" with an iron fist because they hated freedom. Well, later i learned this to be my first issue with liberally biased media. Nowhere in the report did it ever mention that chechnya is completely surrounded by russia. Nowhere did it mention the cruel terrorist acts the chechens use to try and "liberate" themselves.
These days, "chechens" make up a large part of al queda. They fought alongside the Taliban in Afghanistan as 'freedom fighters'. They're anti-american muslim extremists. I have heard that the al queda guys in the berg beheading video spoke arabic with a russian accent. My guess is that they are likely Chechens.
They also gassed those people and took them hostage int hat russian theater a year or so ago.
The worst thing i have EVER seen is the video of the chechen rebel slitting a russian soldier's throat on video while stepping on his head.
What is you all's understanding of the chechnya situation, and where do you stand on the issue?
