Local MB dealer here told us back in October it would be > 12 months wait if we wanted a new 4x4, so we gave up on the idea :/
The salesperson I'm talking to says April.
So.. i saw a 2008 rs4 for sale (after missing a e46 m3 for sale).
Been thinking about buying a RS and a M in addition to my amg, to save for my (now under 4yo) kids before the inevitable onslaugh of electric cars.
Keep a garage with one of each of the last big displacement NA V8s german muscle cars...

Sure, but then, do you buy a car to drive it, or as an investment. You can't do both and IMO, your enjoyment is worth a lot more unless you got millions and drive AND keep some nice cars locked up in jail.

Saw the high end quattro formaggio Alfa today. Looking sharp and a bit fragile at the same time.
The market is pretty funny in Peru at the moment, compared to the US/Euro prices.
Said RS4 asking price is $27k (closing at probably $24-25k), its mechanically fine, under 35k miles.
There are six 1M for sale (thats about every one in the country), all between $33-40k, all under 20k miles. I think those are solid purchases (depreciation wise), if I can get one of the best 3 for under $30k, that´d be great.
W204 C63 coupes are the most expensive of the bunch at $35-40k (unmolested ones are rare)... E92 M3s are in the low 30s/high 20s. M3s will be the last ones go get for me, as they are too similar in concept to the C63.
991 GT3s (under 15k miles) can be had for about $100k (bargain? given the inevitable appreciation of the last 9k rpm NA GT3). thing is, $100k is a lot of money for a single car.

Yes.. they are well over the original MSRP as I see in autotrader. 3 pedals, light, small, nimble... they dont make cars like that anymore.
My wife likes the M3 better than the 1M, but at the current prices in Peru, and given there were only 6000 made for the world... they seem a solid purchase atm.
Although not the fastest car ever, the M2 Competition model has renewed my faith that it can be done, bringing back "fun" and the correct tuning to make a good rounded package.
Well, kind of! My forward collision warning fault light has come on after heavy rain and won't shut off. Headed into the dealer on Monday. They'll have a loaner ready.
Otherwise it's just been little "Italian" things. The seat automatically retracts when getting out, can't shut it off. Shuffle on the USB drive recycles the same songs when you turn the car off and back on again, so sometimes you have to turn shuffle off, click a few songs, then back on again. Otherwise it's been good to me.
There is a certain elegance to scandinavian aesthetics which I find beautiful, same as with the understating of a few german designs.

Yup, that was this summer. They had dozens of them! The best road training climb goes up to an Amangani resort where they hosted them, all of the drivers were super courteous. Haven't seen one in the hands of an actual customer yet, but give it time.
Yeah those things scare me, there have been a few reports of cars jamming the brakes on on freeways with nothing around, I couldn't own a car with collision avoidance as I'd be paranoid all the time. ABS/EBD good, automated braking, bad.
The only thing I had like that with the BMW was in heavy wet snow sticking to the vehicle (during storm) the active cruise control would sometimes click off. It worked on radar on my car (instead of video) and this was maybe 2 times in 3 years, but that was it and fairly rare as conditions go around here. The collision avoidance worked fine, possibly saved my butt once or twice. They get a bad rap for being too aggressive, but people also grossly over-estimate their ability to stop or avoid an object in front that slams on it's brakes. The active cruise control is perfect for road trips and traffic, makes it all a lot less frustrating.

I had brake warning in the Toyota. It worked well in that it alerted me but didn't apply brake. In the city, there were several instances where people were just being dumb but I had plenty of space.
In the Alfa, I haven't used it aside from active cruise. The warning I have is basically the same as when the sensor is occluded, but it's constant, so there may be water intrusion or just Italianness.
I had a similar system in my infinity fx35, which I loved . That was comparably rudimentary, but it worked well enough. It also turned off in heavy show, but you could switch over to manual cruise when it did. I haven't figured that out in the Giulia. Seems like the Japanese are still at the cutting edge of electronics, even if they make boring cars .

i only use ours on our highlander when on the highway in conjunction with the cruise. it’s pretty nifty. i fucking hate the lane departure warning and always turn it off. but i’m a grumpy old fart who still drives a stick for his own daily driver, so there’s that...
I've decided to invest waste < $500 into a few gaskets, hoses and aging vacuum valves in my 17 yo 1.8T Beetle. Shtick for life! 
whelp, after 2 days of commuting again, the FCW light has turned off. I'm guessing water intrusion and then it finally dried out...or lol idunno
I like LDW, but the active assist can be a little intrusive. It wasn't bad in the yota, but in my wife's subaru it had be bouncing from line to line. It was easy enough to turn off but keep the warning on.
The alfa just has the warning, which I like. That plus active cruise and I'm set.

I am really happy with the pilot assist in the Volvo that drives all by itself. I have done all I can to learn how the system works which I think is extremely important as all systems has their own take on how to react. Its amazing on the highway in the morning where I do not have to touch anything well only pull the wheel once in a while (wish there was a better way to tell the car I am paying attention then having to move the wheel). @Toshi do you still not like it in your car? I am not sure if its gotten better on its own but it feels like its much better at staying in the middle of the road then when I got the car.

Haven't tested it extensively but on my commute route Tesla Autopilot > Volvo Pilot Assist. Better lane centering. Much better indication of what the car is sensing. Much less intrusive "put your hand on the wheel" nags–the flip side of this is the flexibility that has led to many more Tesla crashes on Autopilot by idiot drivers not paying any attention.
I am not sure but since you got your car Pilot Assist is out in version 3 with integration with navigation since September. Trying to find out if my car has 2 or 3. The lane centering sound better on my car than your old Volvo. I am happy with the sensing by the hands on the wheels is too much. I first thought it was just about sensing I held onto the wheel but you actually have to move the wheel which makes no sense at all. Also the way it just shut off with little warning vs slowing down the car is not done very well compare to other systems, However overall now I know the system it works really well on my daily commute which is mostly highway.
Its has already done some pretty amazing stops in stop and go traffic. That said I am not being a stupid Tesla driving and leaving it do all the thinking but observing with a foot on the break ready to react if necessary so learning about the system as safely as possible. I also see it more as a extra safety precaution that one time if I for some reason is not alert or miss something.
