pretty shocking pricing for sure, but I think that's a pretty isolated sample. Cars out here are still selling the low 30s with similar MSRP/options to mine. I think Alfa set themselves up for a challenge- releasing a 3 series sedan competitor in the ZOMG crossover phase of america, plus we're right on the cusp of electric vehicles taking charge (HAH). Heck, I got mine for about 20k off MSRP, so that one at 18k isn't much of a shock. What do 2yo three series go for?

Out here, electricity is $0.22/kwh, so multiply his number by 2.2 for about $800
The comparison of a model three to a quadrifoglio is basically, fucking stupid, so let's go with a Q4 base Giulia for comparisons sake, which gets 27mpg on average. So call it 1350 for the difference in MPG. oh but wait, gas out here is $2.80 for premium, so call it 1260.
Let's compare the model 3 awd long range to a Q4 base, since they are the most similar and the performance/quad comparison is retarded
$50k gets you the tesla, with a $5k rebate so 45k. The giulia is 40.3K base AWD. That doesn't include literally any negotiation you can do on an alfa that you can't do on a tesla because cult.
So the difference is realistically less than $500 a year, but you have to shell out for a home charger (call it 1000 for a professional 240v install?) and again we're paying retail instead of the 37k out the door you would actually pay for a base, zero option giulia.
It's going to take you 16 years to make up the difference between these two cars in the real world. I know that you don't necessarily have to charge the car every day, and some days you'll only charge part way, or whatever, but realistically you're going to plug that thing in every day. I'd love to see a real world sample of how much energy the model 3 takes on a monthly, regular commute.
so yeah, in short the comparisons in the real world are not necessarily favorable for the tesla. for an electric car, absolutely. For a designer boy toy, there's like a 10k premium for the t on the hood (and the interior still fucking sucks). also, the teslas are balls-out fast, but they fucking suck to put into a corner. They handle like a dump truck and that's the biggest reason the comparison between those two premium cars is bullshit.
again, I welcome our new battery powered overlords, but if the model 3 didn't have a T on the hood and wasn't pioneered by ol' musky, it wouldn't be nearly as popular as it is. I'm thrilled to see the new polestar, for example. Hopefully it will be above camry level on the inside.
Much like Sandwich I have recently acquired an impractical vehicle manufactured in a country known for dubious quality. It gets 50 mpg and does 0-60 in 3.8 seconds. Handling fits a non-minimum phase model. No government subsidy for my dentisty toy.

0-60 is almost purely dick measuring. 5-60 and 30-60 are probably better metrics, and the figure 8 perhaps in addition.
At the end of the day, car performance isn't necessarily quantifiable by one metric alone, which is why I have such difficulty with tesla fanboys. Yes, the car is fantastically powerful in a straight line, especially with AWD. There's nothing like it....but the cars fall flat when horsepower comes into play, say 30-60 or 60-100, and their massive weight puts them at a gigantic disadvantage in the "fun to drive" category. The model S P100D was one of the worst cars I have ever driven. It was far too fast for its brakes (which felt wooden and wanted another 50ft to stop than any other car I have driven) and massively heavy which made it a chore to go around tight corners that I drive every day. The model S 60 was somewhat better, in the fact that it was as fast as it needed to be without performance pretenses. The model 3, which I got a ride in but didn't drive, felt undersprung and dramatically undertired, but it was absolutely stunningly fast from a "hey let's go" standpoint. I can't comment on how that car actually drives until I'm behind the wheel, but it felt like more of a commuter car with a massive powerplant than a high performance car.

It sure is. There are a lot of really fun bikes out there. Got this one as it was a killer deal, used with 2100 miles on it. I still can't ride my MTB because of my fucked up thumb but this isn't a problem as I don't really have to put any weight on my hands.
If my legs were longer I would have gotten a Honda Africa Twin. That thing is like a lifted rally prepped Miata with a super charged LS swap.

I test rode the DCT version, didn't hate it. Helped that the motor had so much torque it didn't matter what gear you were in.
I am looking for a Bike I can ride to the camp. Then ride the mild trails near the Camp and possibly be capable enough to ride the more difficult off road trails or participate in a scramble. I tried the Yamaha Dual Sport bikes. The WR250. I wish it had a bigger motor in it...
