I really wanted to keep the Hopes, I just didn't want to start pouring money into them. I already had a set of Hayes around, I just needed adapters anyway. I can't wait to see how the bike rides with the new shock, I think I'm gonna ride tomorrow.
I agree, I should be shot, but your coming with me I ditched the fifth because I think that the Fox will make my bike feel more active. The fifth gave it kind of a dead feel, where as a fox with propedal should pedal as well, but give the bike more life. I've been considering it for a while now, I just had to at least give it a try. I think I'm gonna ride with Billie tomorrow so we'll find out how she rides.
Good stuff Dave! Looks awesome. Wanna ride Saturday morning? I have a shuttle all lined up for us I'm really curious about that shock man, could be good stuff!
is it just the photo or is that resevoir gonna end up very very close to the frame at full compression? might be worth taking the spring off to make sure if you haven't already done so

i had exactly the same problem, i had one of the original 222s when they first came out over here with the standard fox shock, bought a fifth when they came out and although it felt better over rough stuff and loads better on high speed turns, the bike just wasnt as much fun to ride, i found it really hard hop the bike around, yknow changing lines and stuff just playing on the bike, it just wanted to stick to the ground and go fast.. so i went back to the fox.
interested to see how you get on..
incidentally i`m on a recoil with a romic at the moment and thats perfect for how i ride, nice n active but with a bit of platform when u need it.
The shock has a larger reservior and spring as well. The reservior has plenty of clearence at both the swingarm and tip tube, the guys at Fox were actually worried that the spring would be hitting the top tube. Now I just can't wait to ride.
