Maybe he was butt raped by aliens and brainwashed into spear heading the campaign to be remembered as the "return of the pharoahs", or something equally provocative.
Why did things change? Because Cheney was finally in a position to make he and his cronies an assload of money.

Face it, throughout history it has always been about POWER. And money has ALWAYS equaled power. Wars are always over the same stuff. The only thing that really changes are the weapons and the uniforms, if any. JMHO.
Cheney made him self about 60-70 million dollars from 2001 and five years onwards. Saw two documentaries last weekend that were really good. Recomend you to watch Why We Fight and Zeitgeist.
Yeh, the bad guys still wear German looking helmets.
