Quick tip:

If you want to give you kids recurring nightmares, read to them the story "What Was I Scared Of?" by Dr Suess. It's in the book "Sneetches and Other Stories".

Sounds like you all need "Good Families Don't" by Robert Munsch. "One day Miranda goes up to the top of the stairs and finds a fart. "Don't be ridiculous" says her mother. "Good families like ours don't have farts."

Followed by The Gas We Pass: The Story of Farts by Shinta Cho.

Then when you get tired of reading flatulent picture books you could move on to projectile vomiting and try "My Little Sister Ate One Hare" by Bill Grossman.

Oh, and there is a sequel to Walter the Farting Dog. "Walter the Farting Dog: trouble at the yard sale."

My wife taught my daughter to say "toot" as well, she also blames it on ducks in the room. It's cute, but she isn't shy about it either.
