Shut up and ride...
Now, yes, I am a Christian, but I get so f**k**g mad at when Christians, especially ones who "work with" youth pastors or anything associated with a building sadly referred to as church, or are actual youth pastors. I have a musical peace of equipment that I am selling here locally for a really good price.

So this youth pastor calls me up, and identifies himself as such, and then becomes the “hipster” youth minister. He proceeds to inform me he is interested, but it may be a bit out of his price range, to “pray on it”. :mumble: WTF does that mean exactly?:mumble:

He calls me about 15 minutes ago and lectures me he can get this piece of equipment new for what I’m selling mine for. I told him if can get it cheaper, to do so. I was friendly, but didn’t want to waste any more time with him. After I hung up and searched the net for prices, Googled it, checked e-bay, no price like he said.

I wouldn’t be so pissed, but that whole “pray on it” thing really pissed me off. Jesus taught us to be generous, not stupid. I guess I’m ticked because he was using his position to basically get it dirt cheap, and assumed I was a dumb as a sheep. People need to get over themselves and get a grip.

If some profess to be a Christian, has it ever occurred to some that their behavior is what turns non-believers off? Is it that much of a stretch? Are these so-called Christian that F’n stupid or naive? Unless you’re Jesus Christ, you’re flawed. Not perfect but forgiven.:mumble:

Just a rant. I got REALLY pissed at this idiot who assumed I would just give it to him.:mumble:

He talked like that Preacher/minister in the movie, “Saved”.

And this concludes my rant. Comments welcome

Just remember to pray for everything you want, and you'll get it.
Cool. I'm gonna start praying for a harem of women who will satisfy my every need. Oh, and I'm praying for a billion dollars (US) as of now. I can't wait to be rich.

Nothing at all wrong w/ anger. Anger is a human emotion, it's what triggers it and how we respond to it that makes the difference. "oh ...he's a christian, you can smack his wife and he'll forgive you and not be angry"
that was a strange, spur of the moment, analogy...but if you smack my wife i'm going to give you a lesson in anatomy and physics.
Jesus went off on the tax collectors in the church, throwing their tables around and just freaking out. He was angry for all the right reasons.

i listen to a lot of "christian hardcore" music and it mainly centers around anger....or the venting of said anger. some churchgoers (notice i didn't say christians) here it and think that it's "of the devil" because it sounds "evil". what they're really saying to me is that they're judging me and my music w/out first recognizing what it is or what's being said. i promoted shows for a lot of bands when i lived in san diego, POD and Project 86 among them, both have been signed by big label companies and remained true to their roots. all were probably the best ambassadors for the cause i can imagine, real people, with real problems, living their life as best as they can keeping their beliefs a central focus.

wow..that got off topic didn't it. sorry.

All he did was try and wangle a bit of money off. He didn't slap anyone about or anything... Is it really worth getting angry about?

Yeah he did, with a whip too. The 'prince of peace' can certainly dish out a beating when he wants to.

One thing I go out of my way when having business dealings with other Christians is I tell them up front “I don’t want the deal on this, I want you to charge me what you charge anyone else”. I’m going to buy it anyway so I’m going to spend “x” amount anyway so I don’t try to weasel them down on price. Oh BTW, look up in the Torah and in James where it talks about not playing favorites (like cutting someone a deal because they are in the same “club” as you)…………..I guess this youth pastor needs to read his Bible.

Unrelated situation but funny...

My wifes birthday was Sunday (she's 21), I know she's a youngin' and I'm a cradle robber etc etc. sue me, I love her. Anyway, Saturday at 12:00AM I was taking her down the local barstrip on foot (where we happen to live, which is very nice). And as we turn the corner from our street to the main road this guy and a girl come walking up to us like they wanted something. They were clean cut, nicely dressed... I figured they werent looking for cash, but instead needed directions or something. The guy says to us, hi there, I was wondering if I could talk to you about Jesus. I rilled my eyes and effortlessly spewed, "sorry man we dont have time for that, its her birthday and we need to get to a bar quick".

Anyway, I respect what the couple were trying to do... I mean they had good intentions, they believe they were out there fighting the good fight, trying to save people's souls. The problem is that he is going down to the local party strip and just walking up to people that are obviously wanting to go somewhere and wanting to discuss Jesus with them. I just wanted to say, "Get a clue man... you have about the same chance of selling insurance with that approach, oh and I know who Jesus is... we are in the bible belt you dork".

What did you do Saturday night..." Oh me and my girlfriend went to the part of town where people go to drink and tried to teach people about Jesus... no one would talk to us though, they all seemed so busy".

I wouldn't be surprised if that couple saw you as unsaved and obviously in need, since you were out going to bars.

Or I hear alot........"their just blind to the truth"..........

The funny thing is (while those folks as you say do have good intentions) Jesus rarely if ever shares the Gospel (which BTW didn't revolved around making sure you didn't end up extra crispy when you die) in the way most evangelical protestants are taught.

Simple quiz would have solved this:

You: "I know you are a good Christian, but I have one simple personal requirement of you before you buy this piece of musical gear from me..."

Him: "Ok, what is it?"

You: "Do you ride a mountain bike?"

Him: "What do you mean?"

You: "Would you call yourself a mountain biker?"

Him: "Uh no...why?"

You: "Sorry, no sale. End of discussion."

Him: "Wait! Huh?"

You: "Goodbye."

What's funny, in regards to music, is that some of the new Christian rock bands are actually good. They aren't your old talentless hacks trying to make it in music by passing them selves off as "Christian".

Most Buddhists believe that when you are ready, you will go looking, for what you need. There is very little point to going high pressure evangelical on people, who probably aren't ready to listen.

That's funny. I was on duty way back when, and my driver was watching The Matrix in the duty hut; I hadn't seen it, and when it was over, I started a sleepless 2 AM rant to him about how the whole thing had been a Buddhist metaphor. I don't think my driver thought I was right in the head. He was a little Keanu himself...

Shhhh, don't tell anyone but Keanu is one of us. He even played Siddhartha in the film 'Little Buddha'

WHOA!!! (in Dolby Surround sound)

And the matrix is full to the brim with both Christian and Buddhist symbolism. The Matrix, is in essense the Maya

When you read the Gospels, Jesus very rarely (if ever) approaches people who haven't come to Him first or expressed an interest in what his "deal" is.

I realize this, but could someone please tell the people who bang on my door at 7:30 am on Saturday??

The point with, for lack of a better work, "selling" something is people have to express an interest to buy. If the Best Buy Guy, banged on your door at 7:30 am on Saturday asking you to buy a plasma TV, his selling average would be pretty abysmal.
