today's classical track of the day is:
Sergei Prokofiev - Alexander Nevsky - V. The Battle on the Ice. Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
i'm on the run yet another day so no extended commentary for this one, but it's a huge, bombastic piece played by a ballsy 1960s era Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Russian. big choir. about the Russians battling the Barbarians (yes, i think capitalization is appropriate here) in an epic battle on a frozen lake or frozen tundra. the ending really is something to behold.
oh, and you can hear me play it at 11 am this saturday or 3 pm this sunday, at benaroya hall here in seattle.
previous cTotD can be found by searching etc.
