Mount Everest has long been a rubbish dump, made by those who do not care to lug the tents, oxygen bottles, ropes and cookers back home after they no longer need them.

Well, it seems the Nepalese people are wanting to clean it up and return it to a sacred mountain. Future climbers may be made to pay a hefty deposit which they get back if they return with their trash.

Absolutely brilliant news.

I would just throw all the crap onto China side of the mountain. Think of it as payback.

That would suck if they bring down all the bodies.
I thought passing failure corpses was part of the ambiance of the whole adventure.

I would so draw mustaches and glasses on their faces. And maybe put them in funny poses to give the next people to come by a chuckle.....maybe sitting behind a lemonade stand or a shoe-shine booth or something.

I think it was Nike that had a long-standing program to pay climbers for removing spent oxygen canisters from the mountain. Were they still doing this?

I think it was only for the Nike branded tanks, and maybe the Marlboro (bought with Marlboro miles, of course) ones, too.
