I searched around in here and I found some info on painting frames, but I am curious as to clear coating one. I have a frame that is pretty much stripped and I was thinking of trying to polish it up and just give it a clear coat over the raw metal. If anybody has tried this and has some thoughts or tips that would be great. And if it turns out that just clear coating a raw frame doesn't look as great as I thought are there any tips for painting a frame. If I had to paint it I was going to head over to my local auto parts supplier that deals mainly with detailing and seeing what they thought about it but any other suggestions would be great.

I did what you are talking about about 10 years ago with a can of clear spray paint. It held up fine for a couple years, but eventually I had it powdercoated. If you have it done professionally or have access to some nice spraying equipment, I think it can look good. Good luck.
