A guy from Australia who seems legit wants my bike. Hes not acting weird at all and have been exhcanging pms with him on a forum. Ive used COD before, a long time ago. Thats the method he would prefer to use because he needs the bike in 2 weeks. I told him he could send my a check via airmail or whatever and I would get it in 2 days or so then send the bike out and would take a week to get there. He hasn't responded so I am afraid he is losing interest. Should I suck it up and use COD? Is it safe? Ive had like 6 people get to this point and back out so I am kind of sick of it.

Thanks, Dan :bonk:

I can't answer you about COD, tho your shipping agent can (UPS, USPS, whomever).

I'm replying cuz i think it takes upwards of a week for an international check to clear your bank... and you don't really want to ship the bike until the check clears.

Besides, who the heck needs a bike immediately? I waited six months for my last bike (custom).

Normally you cannot do international COD.

An international check takes 30 days at most banks if you do not usually deposit them.

COD is safe through UPS, Fed EX etc. They will not release the package until they are paid. Then they take their sweet ass time getting you your money. I avoid it at all costs.

How about this, suppose you lose this sale and wind up selling if for, say, 10% less. Is 10% worth the risk of losing 100%?

Conduct the sale in the safest manner.

Just seems like the race excuse is just that. Maybe he's sincere, but he's obviously not a very good racer, so what's it matter if he rides his current bike.

The other thing about COD is if the buyer refuses the bike, doesn't provide payment, or whatever, you get the bike returned to you and you're stuck with the shipping fees.

Wire transfer the money. $20 cost for each of you but the money is available immediately.

Actually man, Fedex overnights the money back to you.
It works awesome, it just cost a good bit. I have good luck over the years using COD with them.
I did screw up one time by using Fed Ex ground, and they mailed the check back to me by snail mail in some regular envelope. It was for a complete DH rig too, and I was puckered.

COD is a not he way to go...take it from someone who's been there and done that...to many things can go wrong and you have little recourse becasue the transaction is international....I say patience your bike will sell eventually now is just no the right season.

Once Christmas time hits you should have little trouble unloading it...D
