    Coca Cola, that is.

    naturally, coca cola responded:

very quick to divert the blame. Sure, they mention its "excessive". But come on, 2 gallons of soda a day? Its absolutely preposterous. You're not even supposed to drink that much water in a day.

That's the saddest junkie I've ever heard of. A soda jones?

Then again I just read about this woman addicted to coffee enemas.

well, i drink around 1.5-2 liters per day.
i mostly hydrate by coke, i could go without water for several days at a time.

it started about 10 years ago, when i lived in the US and i got used to the 7/11 buckets of soda.
i have really tried to quite the habit, but have not been able to.

I'd try to hide it too. But seriously, it's just a caffine addiction.

Let's try oj with breakfast and coffee to get moving. I'm not sure if it's just my experience, but I find sweets with high-fructose corn syrup to be addicting. Making myself stop eating them and go back to natural sugars is very difficult and almost painful. That might be a similar issue with you... an addiction to the level of sweet.

Does coke in s. america use HFCS?
The product in mexico and a few other markets uses cane sugar (and is way better; not for you but taste wise).
HFCS is a by-product of the US corn lobby.

being a coke connoisseur, i prefer south american coke, in glass bottles if possible.

its made with sugar, instead of HFCS (as in the US). when i lived in the US, i used to prefer the mexican coke, the one sold in small glass bottles sold at ethnic markets. glass bottles give it a different flavor.

i fell very anxious when i do not drink coke. i´ve tried to replace it with coffee, but coke gives a different high.

The underlying health issues for all of the sugar consumption are the biggest things. From insulin to organs to bone density, it's ruthless.

How many cavities have you had Alexis? I never had a cavity until I was 28 and was worked SIX days in 12 hr shifts. I didn't want to touch coffee and would drink a monster Mountain Dew daily. Dentist found 4 tiny cavities at my next two visits. One resulted in rot, then a complete root canal and crown.

I've weened myself off those damn things for the most part, but I get a weekly fix of Mello Yello and brush my teeth here at work within 5-10 minutes after. Doesn't prevent any of the horrible side effects though.

Drinking it in sugar form versus corn syrup is still causing the same health problems.

no. but you can order coca mate at some places.

its like a a tea, made from coca leaves. if you chew the leaves for a few minutes, they numb you jaw, with pretty much the same intensity of IV anesthetics. it will keep you wide awake and alert for a few hours too.
pretty trippy experience (considering i have never tried cocaine).

about 12, incluiding one root canal + crown.
i wondered the same, and asked my dentist. she said soda does not have that much of an effect on teeth, besides coloring the teeth.
it could be truth, or it could be she thought my coke addiction made me a good client and did not want to ruin it.

i understand all the issues that come with coke.... the problem seems to be i just cant quit for more than 3-4 days at a time.
there is something about its frosty, sparkly taste and texture that i just crave really bad, to the point i feel a huge relieve when i have my first drink of the day at breakfast.

To be honest, cutting out sugar based soda (I switched to diet soda and reduced my intake) was a big factor in my 90lb weight loss a few years ago. I drink WAY too much coffee, but it's straight black, so it's all good. :D

I was totally grossed out very early in my stint at Boeing. I'd never in my life seen anyone drink soda with breakfast before. But there is was common to see people eating their tobasco-covered scrambled eggs and washing it down with a gigantic Mountain Dew

Anxious since your are anticipating the next thing you can do or say rather then stoned rambles most people say. You'll become calmer and less influenced when off caffeine. Drinking orange juice at breakfast, 10 bottles of water through the day is very unhealthy but I do it. I need reusable cups for my water.

My first son had with an enamel issue on his two baby front teeth.
When we asked the dentist about the cause he asked what traumatic event occurred in our life around the 6th month of pregnancy.
We'd moved internationally at that time, which stressed the hell out of my wife at the time, and he stated that was the cause of the enamel issue.
True? Idk, but it made sense at the time.

My youngest son had a full set of teeth ready to burst from his gums when he was born.
Chawed the fvck out of my wifes tits until she cried uncle. (he had a softer touch)

Every kid in my wife's friends family has had multiple cavities and that's even in their baby teeth. The one common thing is they all drink sodas. Same with tons of other kids our daughters are in school with. Our do not drink soda at all.

Google the side effects of your magical Diet Coke, which is actually as bad if not worse than the real thing. The acids effect bone and the sugars nuke the rest of you.

That still doesn't answer the question how the acids in the coke transported themselves unchanged from the mother's digestive system to the baby's jaw and ate the enamel off the baby's teeth.

i was pretty addicted to the sugary drinks. Especially when the local red bull rep would drop off pallets for the product group.......

i started to ween myself off this year by drinking seltzer water. Still has that nice fizzyness that i crave with no sugar. I still break down and have a dr pepper or red bull when im hurting but seems like thats only 2-3 times a week. Helps my waistline too.

    more scientific answer:

it didn't eat the enamel off the teeth. Given the extreme nature of the woman's soda problem, the more likely culprit was improper pre-natal nutrition (severe lack of calcium would be my guess) which prevented the enamel from properly forming in the first place.

i grew up drinking really only coke and i still drink it regularly. im in the same boat as Alexis where in i drink about 1.5liters a day. i still have yet to have a cavity.
i never really tried or wanted to give it up but im sure it would be hard. my mother is definitely an addict since its the first thing she has in the morning....before a cigarette.

I grew up nearly unaware of the existence of soda other than the maybe twice a year that my family would eat fast food. Move forward to present day and I love the stuff, especially Mexican Coke, to the point where it is really hard to cut out of my diet entirely. Mid-afternoon at work is the worst for me (right around now actually...) when I'm just desperate for a nice sugary drink.

I just looked this up and it's actually a genetic disorder called dentinogenesis imperfecta.

if it were a genetic disorder, it would more likely be enamel hypoplasia.

but lets be realistic here. what do you honestly think is the more likely culprit - a genetic disorder, or improper prenatal nutitrion stemming from grossly excessive intake of soda of the mother?
