YO, I bought some adidas hematomas and they kill to put on.I wanted the toe protection, but, there isnt enough room for my new foot at the end of that shoe. I'm thinking protection is good, but, I need another option with a wide to area.Anyone try those grey shimano sneaker looking ones (i think DX),do they have a litle somthing for the big toe?any suggestions appreciated.

Specialized Sawpit look like a good option...

My favorite SPD shoes are a sneaker like crossover model, I forget the model number. I haven't tried Hema's or the Sawpit...

What size are they?
My feet are old and worn out, and they may fit in there. :thumb:

I just got some specialized rockhopper shoes for dh. They're kind of an entry level xc shoe but they are much beefier than the sawpits. I was planning on getting the sawpits but other than the carbon guards, they felt like they were pretty flimsy. They are much lighter but didn't have the beef of the cheaper rockhopper ones. I wouldn't get them for an xc shoe with long climbs in mind but I've used them for some minor climbing on shuttle runs and they're fine. As far as for dh goes, they have a stiff sole (way more than the 661 shoes for instance) and a really stiff toe box that I've knockedd pretty hard a few times with no ill effects on my feet. They're about $85 full retail.

DX's look like moon boots :p
I don't know what options are on the market nowadays (I'm a flattie convert), but there were a few hiking-style shoes around that had alot of ankle protection, were comfortable too, and generally had a reinforced toe box.

so what shoes does one get for riding on flats. I was riding a long downhill trail this week and my feet got really sore from standing on the pedals. I've been using a really old pair of vans with the waffle sole but I'm thinking I really need something with more stiffness in the arch area, but the same amount of sticky soft grip on the sole. Bigger pedals might help too, I've been using these:
