I think that bike is hot. Out of curiosity why would you want to go compact? Why not run an 11-27 in the back? Then you still have the high gears for descents and sprints.
you'd just need to replace the spider with a Compact spider, and get some rings. the rough part is whether or not Cannondale is still making them. I'm pretty sure they are...just not positive.
Why compact , I,m living in mountain state .sur of Spain , and this summer go to the French Alps ,If you don,t know thia place perfil, check the map,
also the hollogram system integrated only is compatible with this Cannondale.

I'm a huge fan of compacts. I think if I were in the Midwest I'd think differently, but I've got some pretty decent mountains around here, and I can use all the help I can in getting up them...
Compact for me too. If I stayed in the valley floor regular gearing would be fine but all the short steeps around are a lot more comfortable with a 34 up front.
Alp d'Huez is an unrelenting 10 miles at 8% but it's not uncommon for 2-3 miles at 14-15% around here and climbing isn't my specialty. Hell, I don't have a specialty nor can I maintain a tour like 15mph at 8%.
I have two Drive cranks, Both 105's On standard 53/39 the Other Compacts with 50/34.... For the most part I leave the standard on, most of my riding is pretty flat, and I think the loop through Oak glen is about 9 miles of climbing so I just man up and ride it, but when events like Ride around the Bear comes up, I will be puting the compacts on, 70 plus miles of climbing I will need all the help I can get then.
