I have an old pair of RaceFace liners that have removable d30 hip pads and offered some extra protection.
Not comfortable for any real pedaling though, but for strictly park days they were better than nothing.
I used to have some Fox ones, but I wore them all of one or two times. So damn hotttttttttttttttt.
And they were soft padding, so really just to minimal protection. I felt more comfortable and "more free(?)" riding with normal chamoix and thick DH/moto shorts.

usually compression shorts under moto shorts for DH days, and chamois shorts under generic trail shorts for trail.
I found that the additional protection that padded shorts provided wasn't enough to outweigh the weight/chafing/heat of a padded set of shorts. I had a set of bombshell style padded shorts. When I wrecked, I did pretty well, but I wrecked less when I had more control/comfort.
