"It was a funny angle!"
I went to a random website on my work computer and it put a bunch of adware on my system. I called the help desk at work and they said to download Spybot. I did, but there is one toolbar that will not go away.

It is Active IEPluin Desktop Toolbar. How the hell do I get rid of this thing!?!?!?!?!

Companies that force adware into your system should be kicked in the walnuts!!!?!?!?!?!?!? so frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Find a program called CWShredder. It removes a number of pesky browser hijackers. Another good general adware killing program is AdAware. Pestpatrol is good too but I can't remember if the free version will actually remove things or just show them to you...

Which one (There are many) :confused:

Do an "add\remove programs" components & see if Windows tell's you which one it is.

Then do an Internet search to find specific instructions on how to remove this specific toolbar.

Then request the RideMonkey move this thread to;
Tech Forum (Tenchiros MS virus support forum)

What OS are you running? If it's XP, NT or 98 go to Start/Run -> type "msconfig" in the window that opens click on "startup" find the offending service (this could take a little bit of research on google - but probably not) uncheck the box next to the service - this can also be accomplished on all OS - including w2k by going to Start/Run and typing "regedit" - navigate to the keys HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run (& RunOnce) AND
HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run (&RunOnce) and delete the offending key(s) - while you are in there, note the name of the executable ex: scumware.exe then go to Start/Search and search for all incidences of the executable and delete them (this may require killing the actual process with Task Manager (Ctrl,Alt,Del to access this) or a reboot) Feel free to email me at s1ngletrack@comcast.net , I f***ing HATE malware and have a great deal of experience ridding systems of it - also, check "C:\Program Files" with windows explorer for any folders from the offending company and delete those too.

Good Luck

all good stuff, I would look in Add remove programs and see if it is listed, some are and can be uninstalled there. Also there is a program called hijack this, if you do not know much about what is running I would be very carefull with this, if you know what you are looking for it is great, but if you delete the wrong entry it can cause troubles. Do an online virus scan and find a good trojan scan online as well. Just use google to search for it. Good luck.

I work in the systems dept, and I would have been a bit more helpfull...but oh well.

PORN SITES that force adware into your system should be kicked in the walnuts!!!?!?!?!?!?!? so frustrating when I get caught at work going to inappropriate sites!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since you are at work, call the help desk and have them send out your local desktop support specialist and have em re-image your machine.

And stop going to porn sites at work. And if you do, NEVER click YES on the box asking you to install such and such so you can see the boobies better.
