does anyone on here have any problems with the connex chain connector thing comeing loose, i bought one about a week ago and am waiting to get the rest of my drivetrain in before i install it. it seems that it would be really easy for it to come loose.

justified fear?

Are they anything like the SRAM PowerLinks? (I haven't seen a Wipperman in person, just pics on the web -- it looks kinda similar)

I've had zero problems with any number of powerlink-ed chain in pretty much every bad condition -- road racing, fixie, touring, slalom, etc...

I have been digging the idea of a stainless chain (or one of the new ti ones....droooool). Would be curious if there are problems with the Wippermanns.

I use the connex link on my campy 10 speed chain - I have done a few grinding climbs and my sprints wit zero problems. The set up is similar to the gold link on my sram pc99 9 speed chains. I couldn't live without them - I like clean chains. What will you be using it with? Campy chains are terribly fussy and their chain tool is worse. The connex link is essential.

wipperman chains are niccccccccccccccce :D the connex link they supply are pretty nice and i don't see that thing coming loose. i've been using sram chains forever and always used the link and not once has it come loose on me.

That indeed was the way I was thinking. Bummer man. You've got a new cassette on the way though I'm sure.
