Arrggh! The joys of being a general contractor...

I get a call from MizN8 this morning telling me that on of the neighbors across from this spec called in upset because the sheetrock crew is oggeling his wife... cat calls/whistling/panting/leg humping and god knows what else... (I'm talking sheetrockers here... these yahoos are one step up from roofers and one step below painters)...

So I call the guy smooth things out, then call the sheetrock foreman and tell him to cease and desist... jeebus......

Wow, you must live in a really crappy part of the country to get a house for $190k. Lets face it, any place worth living house normal houses starting at 300-350.

Congratulations.
After many years of being on RM, that is officially the dumbest thing that I have ever seen posted, and that includes all the pre-pube crowd who cannot spell.:thumb:

Well, this house had a week of no activity as I was in que for the tape & float crew. They've been busting ass this week to get it ready for trim and cabinets next week. I got the driveway and front walk poured yesterday (washed pea gravel).

The lot to the left of the house has the forms set and a plumbing crew in it today roughing it in. Should get the foundation diggers in this weekend and the post tention cables installed Monday. If everything goes right, it will be poured Wed.... then the framing starts Mon.

Geez - the only thing worse is a coffin lid. That's the kinda crap that made me quit hanging drywall.

That and the aching back!

Nice crib though.

Kitchen floors are a warm maple. The kitchen backsplash is yet to be determined but something in a 1x1 tile is what I want. Light fixtures and door hardware is all stainless as are the appliances.

I just read a bunch more of this thread. i am ashamed to say I was one of "those people'....

Drywall hangers are the biggest bunch of crank snorting yahoos ever. I put them BELOW roofers, porn booth mop boys, etc.

In my late teens I hung drywall for 2 years with a company that was very rare for a drywall outfit - they were generally cool people. The other companies I worked for briefly were IMPOSSIBLE to deal with.

One guy I got stuck with on a job would lear at every female that walked near the jobsite. Even grade school kids. "There goes a future-fox! She's gonna be my shark bait in a few years!"

Goddamn pigs.

I made killer money for an 18 year old though. That was the only thing keeping me from opening heads with my trusty Estwing drywall hatchet.

Same here.
Our Hispanic crew is the only ones with enough balls to do our roof.
We had 2 good ole' boy crews to say "Hell Naw!"

They are cool too. We were so grateful, we gave them a bunch of Christmas candy.:)

I wonder if the cool blue color and ebony cab's are gonna help or hinder this house from selling.

It's pretty far away from 'builder beige'....

Check out glass tile. IMO it looks way better (different) with stainless and granite than a standard travertine grid.

It's either all blue or all beige... no inbetween.

Seriously? Is that what people want or is that part of the "package"? Paint color is extremely personal I could imagine that to have the best chance of selling the house you need it as plain as possible. The buyer can always change it later I suppose.

yeah, that is retarded. instead of offering $1K cat 6 cables, give the people some color choice fer chrissake.

Of course I'm kidding... LOL!

But yeah, the house is all one color... it is a $500 upcharge to repaint per room.

This is a spec house so I can't wait for someone to buy it to paint it.

ouuuu... seafoam!!! I LOVE SEAFOAM!!!

PSYCH!!! whats with the institutional seafoam(robins egg blue/green), why not just white or something? I mean why if you are trying to save money on the place spend the extra 6 cents to have the paint tinted and leave it white?
