So last years tax return was huge for me... Then I get a letter saying I owe a penalty because I claimed myself and my dad claimed me as a dependent(he did the taxes)... So i filed this years taxes, turbotax said my return would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 dollars. I get my tax return saturday, its like 250 dollars. Im perplexed. Im wondering if they automatically drew they penalty i owed them?

AND I CANT GET A HOLD OF A HUMAN! I'm tired of those damn automated machines and pressing 1 and 2 and then 1 again. :banghead:

<end rant>

try this number, 877-777-4778

Whose bright idea was it to claim you twice, that is just asking for IRS trouble.

Yup, before they issue any refunds that you "think" you are due, they discount any amount that they "believe" you owe. You'll get a letter in a few weeks stating why they did what they did.
