i know i saw this somewhere. btw, when you get a flat with tubeless tires, can the tire be repaired, i know it's probably a stupid ? with an obvious answer.
Personally, I wouldn't go to tubeless yet. The whole concept hasn't been perfected yet.
The best way to prevent flats in tubeless (in my opinion) is to use SLIME. I know a lot of people hate it, but it works. It may be messy, but it works.
You can patch the inside of a tire, but it is a pain in the butt trying to find the hole in the first place.
Just remember to always carry a replacement tube just in case. (depending on the rim setup you have)
I'm going to give it a whirl, actually. And if you get a flat with tubeless (which doesn't happen much because the latex used in the kits at the site listed above fills in the holes for you), you just throw in a tube and finish your ride.
Flats with tubeless tires - on the trail you just put in a tube and get home. There you take the tube out and reinflate. Dunk in water to spot the bubbles. Then take the tire off and prep the inside of the rim by buffing off all the slippery mold breaking stuff in there down to a good rubber surface. I've found a little dab of silicone sealer to work better than a patch. Large slices or cuts are fatal damages, just like they would be on a tube tire.
I've put a lot of miles on my Hutchinson Python UST's with very, very, very few flats.
Tubeless won't make you faster and since you're new to racing don't bother with it you need to become faster with out fancy things like that i beet loads of guys on bikes worth 3times mine.
I think you are proble thinking about Stans notubes notubes.com
I'm thinking about it but you can't just use any tire like they say Hutchinsons are supposed to work well with it but contis, irc and michlin and lots more don't. If you still are getting flats not to insult you but it's probly the way you ride you seem to break alot of frames. You should be lighter and smoother through trails and absorb bumps with your legs. I'm 170LBS i ride a c-dale f800 hardtail and have contis on it no flats anymore and i use tubes.
I found a frame that seems like it can take some crap. the Giant NRS 3. now im thinking again about tubeless and im just gonna pump up the tires more (55 psi). the reason i was looking into tubeless was not for the weight loss or to go faster. i was looking into it because i got 2 snake bites from hitting a rock and a log way too hard.

Tubeless will make you faster. They roll faster and with Stans, they are lighter.
You can use any tire with Stan's I've used Maxxis, IRC, Panaracer...I have friends who've used Intense, Nokian, michis, contis...... and they work on any rim, including those with a loose bead. You just have to follow the directions to the letter.
